DH32 is a typical grade of DNV-class high-strength steel suitable for cold-water navigation areas, covering the core load-bearing structures of mainstream ship types.
Applicable ship types: bulk carriers, very large crude carriers (VLCCs), container ships, general cargo ships, etc.;
Typical Components: Main load-bearing structures such as side plating, main deck, double bottom, inner bottom plate, transverse and longitudinal bulkheads, and main keel;
Performance Advantages:
· In areas sensitive to low-temperature brittleness, such as the double bottom and inner bottom plate, the -20°C impact toughness of DNV DH32 effectively suppresses crack propagation, meeting the requirements for navigation in winter low-temperature waters such as the North Atlantic and North Pacific;
· Thick-gauge products used in VLCC cargo hold side structures can reduce hull weight while meeting strength specifications, in compliance with international shipbuilding codes such as IACS UR S25.
LNG Carriers: Used in auxiliary enclosure structures such as the secondary shielding layer of liquid cargo tanks; compatible with dissimilar steel welding processes and meeting the safety requirements for low-temperature structural components specified in the IGC Code;
Special-Purpose Vessels: Main structures for offshore engineering support vessels, salvage vessels, and sub-polar operation vessels, capable of withstanding operating conditions in low-temperature waters;
Repair and Refitting: Widely used in scenarios such as hull structure replacement and localized reinforcement.
Thanks to its excellent low-temperature toughness, resistance to laminar tearing, and resistance to marine corrosion, DNV DH32 has become a key material of choice for offshore engineering steel structures.
· Drilling Rigs: Used in critical load-bearing components such as masts, legs, and main decks of semi-submersible and jack-up drilling rigs.
· FPSOs (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading Units) and Oil and Gas Processing Modules: Primary load-bearing structures designed to withstand long-term harsh operating conditions.
· Subsea Manifold Systems: Used in pipe joints and structural reinforcements, suitable for high-pressure, low-temperature environments;
· Offshore Wind Power: Widely used in steel structures such as monopile foundations, jacket structures, and offshore substation platforms; it is the mainstream material of choice for offshore wind power projects.
Main structures of specialized offshore vessels such as work barges, offshore crane vessels, and pipe-laying vessels.
Thanks to its high strength, good weldability, and environmental adaptability, DNV DH32 is also used in certain heavy-duty engineering fields, including:
· Load-bearing structures for cross-sea bridges;
· Heavy-duty port cranes;
· Large-scale hydraulic engineering steel structures and other projects with high requirements for strength and weather resistance.
All DNV DH32 shipbuilding steel plates hold official DNV certification and meet the acceptance requirements of shipyards and offshore engineering projects worldwide.
Stable impact toughness at -20°C, making it suitable for shipbuilding and offshore structures in cold-water regions.
Combining excellent low-temperature toughness, fatigue resistance, and corrosion resistance, these plates ensure long-term, reliable service under complex and harsh marine conditions.
With a low rate of welding defects and ease of cutting, bending, and forming, these plates help shorten construction cycles and reduce manufacturing costs.
Customizable thickness, width, and length options are available to meet both standard and special specification requirements for ship hull construction.
