Our DNV Grade A shipbuilding steel plates are strictly manufactured in accordance with DNV standards. They are produced using hot-rolled, controlled-rolled, normalized or TMCP processes, have passed factory inspections and obtained DNV certification, and are available for third-party inspection. These products feature stable mechanical properties, good toughness, excellent weldability, and high cost-effectiveness, and are widely used in structures such as ship hulls and offshore platforms. In addition, we offer custom sizing and fast delivery.

DNV Grade A shipbuilding steel plates are ordinary-strength marine structural steels certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), suitable for hull construction, offshore engineering, and marine auxiliary structures. The products are manufactured in strict compliance with DNV ship material specifications and IACS Uniform Rules.
As the most widely used benchmark grade within the DNV ordinary-strength shipbuilding steel series (A, B, D, E), DNV Grade A steel plates feature stable mechanical properties, excellent weldability, good formability, and high cost-effectiveness. They are extensively used in general load-bearing structures such as hull decks, hull plates, and bulkheads for offshore and inland waterway vessels, as well as in various marine fittings.

DNV Grade A shipbuilding steel plates are ordinary-strength structural steels for marine applications. They have no mandatory low-temperature impact requirements and are characterized by excellent weldability and high cost-effectiveness. They are suitable for use in normal-temperature and temperate waters and are commonly used in secondary ship structures and offshore marine engineering structures in normal-temperature environments. They are not suitable for use in cold-water regions or in critical areas subject to high impact loads.
Suitable for superstructures, secondary hull plates, internal structures, deck fittings, and ship repairs on inland river barges, coastal bulk carriers, coastal oil tankers, general-purpose container ships, tugs, engineering support vessels, and small-to-medium-sized offshore general cargo ships (excluding ice-class vessels).
Nearshore fixed platforms at ambient temperatures: platform walkways, auxiliary rooms and compartments, pipe racks, non-load-bearing mezzanine panels, platform gangway decking, etc.
FPSO/FPU floating units: superstructures in living quarters, secondary mezzanines, pipe supports, etc.
Suitable for the manufacture of ship auxiliary equipment, offshore engineering container structures, and port and offshore facilities.
A:
No, it is not safe. DNV Grade A shipbuilding steel plate is not required to undergo Charpy V-notch impact testing, so its low-temperature toughness cannot be guaranteed, and there is a risk of brittle fracture. This steel is not suitable for low-temperature environments; if service at low temperatures is required, DNV Grade D (-20°C) or Grade E (-40°C) should be selected.
A:
Yes. Our DNV Grade A (NV A) shipbuilding steel plates are shipped with DNV-certified mill test tertificate. Third-party inspection reports (such as SGS or BV) can also be provided upon request.
A:
Yes. This steel grade has a low carbon equivalent (CEV ≤ 0.40%), resulting in excellent weldability. Thin plates can be welded using conventional MMA/MIG welding without preheating; for plates thicker than 50 mm, low-temperature preheating is recommended to prevent cold cracking.
A:
Non-critical components in cargo ships, barges, and coastal vessels, including secondary hull sections, decks, bulkheads, and superstructures; as well as in offshore platforms, ship repair projects, and inland waterway vessel construction.
A:
Standard condition: Hot-rolled (HR).
Optional conditions: Controlled Rolled (CR), normalized (N), thermo-Mechanical controlled processed (TMCP), quenched and tempered (Q+T).
Value-added services: Ultrasonic testing, Z-direction property testing (Z15/Z25/Z35), shot blasting and painting according to customer requirements.
A:
Yes. We provide value-added services such as custom sizing, cutting, bending, heat treatment, and surface treatment based on our customers’ project requirements.
