LR Grade A is a standard-strength shipbuilding structural steel certified by Lloyd’s Register (LR). It offers stable mechanical properties, good ductility and weldability, and reliable resistance to marine atmospheric corrosion.
This steel grade is suitable for normal-temperature marine environments and is primarily used in the construction of coastal vessels, inland waterway vessels, and general offshore structures.
We supply LR Grade A marine steel plates in a full range of specifications, including hot-rolled, thermomechanically controlled process (TMCP), and normalized products. All products strictly comply with the LR Marine Steel Specification and are accompanied by an LR Certificate of Approval and a Mill Test Certificate (MTC).
LR: Certified by Lloyd’s Register (LR)
A: Quality grade A (No impact test required.)

LR Grade A shipbuilding steel plates are primarily used in traditional civilian ship structures, such as inland waterway vessels, coastal cargo ships, small- and medium-sized offshore support platforms, coastal marine infrastructure, and routine ship repair projects. They are suitable for traditional, non-extreme marine operating environments.
Typical applications include:
Used in the construction of hull structures for small- to medium-tonnage coastal cargo ships, bulk carriers, passenger ships, tugboats, and inland waterway vessels.
Used for general offshore platform support equipment, offshore pipeline supports, and structural components of floating facilities.
Used for coastal port terminals, load-bearing structures, fairway engineering facilities, flood control structures, and marine support projects.
Used for component replacement, structural reinforcement, and overall refurbishment of conventional ships and coastal marine facilities.
