ABS Grade EH36 steel plate is a high-strength marine steel plate certified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). Its key performance advantages include low-temperature toughness at -40°C and a yield strength of ≥355 MPa. This material is suitable for ship and offshore engineering structures operating in extremely cold environments and under high-load conditions.
Used for the hulls, side structures, decks and ice-bearing zones of icebreakers and Arctic research vessels, offering excellent resistance to extreme cold and ice impact.
Suitable for high-strength decks, bulkheads, deckhouses and longitudinal/transverse members on container ships, bulk carriers and oil tankers, capable of withstanding high bending moments and wave impacts.
LNG carriers, chemical tankers: support structures for liquid cargo tanks.
Luxury cruise ships: critical load-bearing compartments.
Workboats: Crane bases and boom structures.
Used for jacket structures, legs, platform decks and support columns on jack-up and semi-submersible platforms, offering resistance to storms and seawater corrosion.
Suitable for tower base flanges, foundation jackets and substation platform structures, designed to withstand salt spray and low-temperature environments.
Includes subsea pipeline supports, riser structures, main girders for large port cranes, and high-pile caissons for quays.
Used for the cylinders and heads of LNG storage tanks and cryogenic liquid storage tanks, with an operating temperature of -40°C.
Suitable for main girders of large bridges, beams and columns in industrial buildings in extremely cold regions, and high-strength components of mining machinery.
ABS EH36 shipbuilding steel plates have a yield strength of not less than 355 MPa and a tensile strength of 490–630 MPa. With their superior load-bearing capacity, they can effectively reduce steel consumption and optimise the structural weight of large vessel hulls.
At -40°C, the minimum Charpy V-notch impact energy absorption is no less than 34 J, effectively preventing brittle fracture in extremely cold seawater environments. It is suitable for polar navigation and engineering projects in cold-water regions.
Designed with a low-carbon chemical composition (carbon equivalent ≤ 0.40%), ABS EH36 shipbuilding steel plates are suitable for common marine welding processes such as submerged arc welding and manual arc welding. They exhibit low susceptibility to cold cracking and are easy to cut, bend and roll, meeting the manufacturing requirements of complex marine structures.
Through the judicious addition of alloying elements such as Cu, Ni and Cr, the material’s resistance to salt spray, seawater and marine atmospheric corrosion is enhanced, extending its service life in harsh marine environments.
Fine-grain rolling and TMCP heat treatment technologies are employed to ensure a uniform internal microstructure, providing excellent fatigue resistance and the ability to withstand deformation under dynamic marine loads.
All steel plates have been inspected by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and are accompanied by complete, compliant official certification documents.
Thickness: 5–150 mm, Width: 1500–3950 mm, Length: 6000–18000 mm.
We offer processing services including cutting, bending, rolling and drilling, and can achieve Z15, Z25 and Z35 performance across the full thickness range.
24/7 material selection guidance and after-sales service.
