A36 vs. AISI 1018: 1018 has lower carbon content and is better for machining.



Limitations:

Not suitable for high-strength or high-temperature applications (use A572 or A588 instead).

Lower corrosion resistance compared to weathering steels (e.g., ASTM A588).
