Main applications of ABS Grade EH32 shipbuilding steel plates

1. Ocean-going cargo ships and container ships

ABS EH32 steel plates are widely used in critical structural components of container ships and bulk carriers, such as hull plating, decks, bulkheads and keels. Their excellent tensile strength and fatigue resistance enable them to withstand repeated wave impacts and seawater corrosion during ocean voyages, significantly extending the service life of the hull structure.

2. Polar Vessels and Cryogenic Engineering Vessels

With its outstanding low-temperature toughness at -40°C, EH32 steel is the material of choice for polar transport vessels, icebreakers and fishing vessels operating in cold regions. This steel grade maintains excellent structural toughness in icy seawater and harsh low-temperature environments, effectively preventing hull cracking caused by ice load impacts and temperature fluctuations.

3. Offshore Engineering Platforms

In facilities such as offshore wind power platforms, oil and gas drilling rigs, and floating dry docks, ABS EH32 steel plates are used to manufacture supporting structures and load-bearing components. These platforms are subjected to complex, long-term loads from wind, waves and currents, placing high demands on the structural stability and corrosion resistance of the steel; EH32 steel plates meet these requirements.

4. Specialised Marine Tanks and Auxiliary Facilities

EH32 steel plates are also used in cryogenic chemical tanks, ballast tanks and shipboard storage tanks. Their stable chemical composition effectively prevents material degradation caused by medium corrosion. Furthermore, these steel plates are utilised in stern supports, rudder systems and heavy-duty auxiliary structural components.
